"We need a collective recognition of the real systemic roots of the problem. The garbage problem will not go away because you or I stop producing garbage. And global warming will not go away because you or I stop using gasoline. Those problems will not go away as long as there is a global industrial system that produces waste and burns gasoline. This isn’t to say we shouldn’t reduce our consumption, but we should do it because it’s the right thing and not because we expect it to topple those in power."
